Sylvia Ann Kifus ObituarySylvia Ann Kifus, age 80, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 26, 1945, in Footdale, Pennsylvania, Sylvia lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and generosity. She was the beloved wife of Barry Kifus Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion for 58 years. Together they built a beautiful family, and she was the adored mother of Barry Kifus Jr. and Marybeth (Ben) Torsell. Her greatest joy came from her cherished grandchildren - Isabella (Spencer) Seibert, Juliana Kifus, Austin Kifus, Isaac Torsell, Mylee Kifus, and Noah Torsell - all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her heart.
Sylvia is also survived by her loving sister, JoAnn Matyus, and was preceded in death by her siblings Bernadette Nusida and David Vargo.
A woman of deep faith and community spirit, Sylvia dedicated countless hours volunteering with the Isabella Guild and the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was also a proud and active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where she generously supported the parish's annual festival and Monte Carlo events - both through her time and her good-natured enthusiasm.
Sylvia had a fun-loving side and was known for her love of playing the slot machines - especially during her trips to Windsor, Ontario. Her frequent visits and friendly presence made her a well-known face at Caesar's Casino.
Those who knew Sylvia will remember her for her kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family. She had a heart as generous as it was joyful and a spirit that will continue to shine through all who were lucky enough to know her.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street, Mentor. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Etombment will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
Sylvia will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her laughter, her compassion, and the countless memories she created with family and friends.
