Sylvia Vandetta "Van" Mason Munro, age 82 of Marion, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Marion General Hospital. On June 4, 1939, she was born in Ingram, Kentucky, daughter of the late Rev. Robert D. Mason and Odella (Brooks) Mason Fuson. Sylvia was a graduate of the 1957 class of Middlesboro High School in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
On November 15, 1958, she married the love of her life, Richard T. S. Munro, and they celebrated 49 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2007 in Marion.
Van was an active member of Central Baptist Church and served in several positions. She loved to sing and sang at the nursing homes in Marion. She owned her own cake shop and had many hobbies, including being the family's genealogist.
She is survived by a loving daughter, Anissa K. Munro; two brothers, Curtis Mason, Harrogate, TN, and J.C. (Judy) Mason, Marion, OH; sister-in-law Mary Idol Mason, Middlesboro, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Bobbie Price; a brother, Dale Mason; two nephews, Robert Price and Dewey Mason; sister-in-law Betty Mason; and brother- and sister-in-law Bud and Aggie Crum.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm at Central Baptist Church, 2816 Marion-Waldo Rd., Marion, Ohio. Services will follow at 12 pm at the church with Pastor Ryan Strother officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church in Van's memory.
