It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sylvia Kay Mills, 69, of Park Hills, who peacefully departed this life on March 18, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 21, 1955, in Waco, Texas, Sylvia was the cherished daughter of the late William Johnie and Angie Ruth (Ritch) Hutchison. Sylvia dedicated 17 years of her life as a Psychiatric Aide for the State of Missouri, where her compassion for others shone brightly through her work. She had a deep passion for helping those in need, and her gentle spirit touched the lives of many. A devoted attendee of Bismarck Assembly of God, Sylvia found joy in singing and playing her guitar during services, sharing her love of music with her church community. Cooking was one of her greatest joys, as she delighted in preparing meals for her family and often went above and beyond to spoil them, especially her adored grandchildren. As a devoted Cardinals baseball fan, she followed the team passionately and held a special admiration for Yadier Molina, whose spirit and dedication resonated with her own. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered for her warm heart, infectious laughter, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Richard Mills; sons, John and Dickey Mills; brothers, Jimmy and Dannie Hutchison and one sister, Cheryl “Honey” Blain.
Sylvia was an adoring mother to her children, Shelia Mills, Linda Spence, Larry Mills, Gary Mills and Rose Adams; loving grandmother of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister to Kenny Hutchison, Mack Hutchison, Sallie Biles, Barbara Honea and Jean Gossett; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, also survive.
