Tamara Leonard, age 54, went home to be with the Lord on December 7th, 2024 at the Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky. Tamara was born on June 29th, 1970 to Mike and Norma Hazelwood.
Growing up she enjoyed playing sports and spending time outdoors. Her siblings and animals were her best friends.
She married David Leonard Sr. and birthed 3 children. As a family they attended Harmony Baptist Church. She later attended Pleasant View Baptist Church for the rest of her life.
Tamara was a wonderful mom to her daughters, Amy and Emily. She was also Mom to David who had Down Syndrome. She was a dedicated mother, and showed her true and sacrificial love to them. She never left David's side until he passed in 2021.
Tamara loved her family and friends. Everyone who knew her would describe her as being kind, sweet, and absolutely hilarious. She enjoyed being a blessing to others and seeing people smile.
"No one else could do what He's done for me." This phrase of a song often echoed in her mind as she journeyed through life. He, speaking of the Lord, blessed her abundantly. His grace and forgiveness was so real to her. Her family saw the Lord touch her in many ways.
In the last couple years of her life, she had the joy of being Nana to her sweet granddaughters, Cassidy and Aspen.
Tamara fought many physical battles, and cried many tears during her last years on earth. From the time David passed away till her last breath, Tamara longed for the day she would see him again. As we honor her life, she is the presence of her God with David in her arms. No more pain, no more sorrow, and no more tears will be her reality for an eternity.
Until we meet again, you will be in our hearts.
In addition to her son David, Jr., she is preceded in death by her husband David Leonard, Sr. and her father John Michael Hazelwood, Sr.
Tamara is survived by her daughters Emily Leonard and Amy Boyle of Falls of Rough, KY
2 grandchildren: Cassidy Truth and Aspen River Boyle
Mother: Norma Hazelwood of Hardinsburg, KY
2 brothers: John Michael Hazelwood, Jr. of Owensboro, KY and Kevin Troy Hazelwood (Laura) of Hawesville, KY
2 sisters: Carissa Dawn Quick (Jon) of Deanfield, KY and Miranda Grace Hart (James) of Frankfort, KY
Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at Pleasant View Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 1 PM with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11 AM – 1 PM. All times are central.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to Trent-Dowell Funeral Home to assist with expenses.

What a beautiful story of Tammy´s life. She was a sweet soul who enjoyed laughing and playing tricks. She would give you the shirt off her back if she even thought you needed it. She will be so missed!

Prayers for all the family that are left to miss her sweet presence in this life. Until we meet again!
