Tami Joanne Strantz, passed away peacefully at her home in
Stanchfield, MN, on June 25, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on April 22, 1967, in
St. Paul, MN, Tami was the cherished daughter of Orville and Edythe Peterson, who adopted and raised her as their own. Her life was a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit, as she faced each challenge with grace and determination.
Tami's journey through life was marked by her unwavering passion for caring for others. After graduating in 1985 from Kellogg High School, she pursued her calling in the field of nursing, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She dedicated many years of service to Princeton and Cambridge Hospitals, working on weekends and providing respite care for pediatric patients. Tami's gentle and loving nature made her a favorite among her patients and colleagues alike. Four years prior to her passing, Tami's health required her to step away from nursing, but her impact on those she cared for remained indelible.
In her personal life, Tami found joy and solace in her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Cary Strantz, whom she married on October 7, 2001, in a beautiful ceremony at the Lutheran Church in
Osseo, MN. Together, they shared a life filled with love and laughter, residing in Hugo, Princeton, Dalbo, and finally Stanchfield, where they spent their last six years. Tami was a loving mother to her twin daughters, Dianna and Andrea, and a doting grandmother to her grandsons, Joey LaRowe, Ryder, and Tayte Trester. Her family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home for them.
Tami's life was also marked by personal battles, including a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2007. She was cancer free until 2018. Despite being given a prognosis of just 16 months, Tami's fighting spirit saw her through another six years of cherished moments with her loved ones. Her courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Beyond her family and career, Tami had a zest for life that was expressed through her many interests. She was an avid sewer, baker, and cook, always eager to share her creations with friends and family. Tami's love for the outdoors shone through her involvement with the Mystic Riders Snowmobile Club. Her commitment to making a difference extended to breast cancer fundraising, where she worked tirelessly to help others facing the same battle she had endured.
Tami's legacy is one of compassion and generosity. She was preceded in death by her father, Orville Peterson; her daughter, Andrea LaRowe; her father-in-law, Jack Perron; and her dear friend, Patty Smethers. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving husband, Cary; her daughter, Dianna Trester; grandsons, Joey LaRowe, Ryder and Tayte Trester; mother Edythe Peterson, sister-in-law Patti Willette, and all those whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Tami's Life is currently pending.
