In Loving Memory Of
Tammie Sue "Scantling" Hise, age 65, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Fort Smith. Tammie was born on April 24, 1960, to Bill and Jolene (Wilkins) Scantling. A lifelong resident of Fort Smith, she built her life and raised her family in the River Valley. She was a graduate of both the American Training Institute and Arkansas Beauty College, and she worked as a nail technician and a paralegal.
Tammie had a deep love for fishing, but what brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was known for her kind heart and unwavering devotion to her children.
She is survived by her beloved daughters: Carrie Holmes, Jodecia Holmes, Stephany Hise Villar, Whitney Hise, and Misty Scantling; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Alice Gray and Betty Young, both of Booneville, Arkansas. Tammie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayman Mays; her parents, Bill and Jolene Scantling; and her siblings, Billy Scantling, Billy June Hanshaw, and Jackie Blake.
A Celebration of Life in Tammie's honor will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sugar Grove Pentecostal Church, 10207 South State Hwy 217, Sugar Grove, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery. A lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Community Center.
