With the heaviest of hearts, we announce that Tamera 'Tammy' Lynn Hazen, a loving mother, devoted wife, cherished sister, and doting aunt, passed away on September 24, 2025, at the age of 64.
Tamera's life was a testament to her caring spirit. She was born on September 19, 1961, in Shawnee, OK, to Edwin and Sharon May. Anyone who knew Tammy knew her for being kind and caring, as well as for her great sense of humor. After graduating from Murphy High School in Mobile, AL, where she was a cheerleader, she attended Troy State University and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She began her career as a Circulation Manager for the Mobile Press Register before becoming an HR Manager at Shaw Industries Plant 13 in Cartersville, GA.
However, her true passion was continuously investing in children, a calling she fulfilled through 25 years as a dedicated Sunday School teacher at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, GA, and later as a professional nanny. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed crafts and sewing. She never forgot where she came from and was a guiding force who helped provide for her younger siblings.
She married the love of her life, Walter Edgar 'Teddy' Hazen, Jr., on March 5, 1988. Her love for her family was immeasurable. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Teddy, her mother, Sharon May; her siblings, James May, Teresa May, Bret May, Jon May, and Ryan Bowman, also many loving nieces and nephews.
She is now reunited with her Heavenly Father; Christ Jesus, and her three children, Walter Edgar 'Trace' Hazen III, Laurel Kay Hazen, and Kristopher Trent Hazen; her father, Edwin May; and her brother, Dean 'Bart' May, who preceded her in death.
