Marilyn devoted her lifelong career to teaching, spending the majority of her tenure at Pike County High School in Brundidge. Her passion for education inspired countless students, and she was known not only for her commitment to academic excellence but also for her kindness and understanding approach.
Her journey in education began at Troy University, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees. This academic foundation equipped her to make a significant impact in the lives of her students, shaping their futures with knowledge and compassion.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marilyn was deeply involved in her church community. She was one of the first members of The Vine Church, where she remained an active participant for over 25 years. As a loving Christian lady, Marilyn dedicated herself to serving the church in every way possible, embodying the spirit of generosity and faith.
Marilyn cherished her family, particularly her beloved nephews Don McKinney (Pam), Andrew McKinney, Jeff Thompson, and her niece Sarah Thompson, who will remember her fondly for the warmth and love she brought to their lives.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Sarah Thompson; her brother, David Thompson; her sister, Emily McKinney; and her nephews, Douglas Thompson and Dean McKinney. Their memory lives on through the many lives she touched.
The family would like to thank the friends and members of the Vine Church for their care and concern, especially Micah & Amanda Johnson and their family. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Thompson family.
