Tammy Hudson, 55, of Lake Charles, passed away unexpectedly on Monday February 17, 2025, at a local hospital.
A native of Melbourne, Florida Tammy became a resident of the Lake Area in May, 2011. Prior to moving to Lake Charles, Tammy lived in the Clinton/Sampson County North Carolina area where she worked as a nurse, and in fire and rescue as an advanced EMT and firefighter. After personal tragedy, Tammy became a spokesperson for M.A.D.D., Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and helped form new laws against drunk driving in North Carolina and was a founding member of the M.A.D.D. organization in Johnson County, North Carolina.
Tammy was outgoing and charismatic and never met a stranger. Her selfless spirit was always giving, and she aspired to lift others up. With this personality, she thrived as a Mortgage Lending Broker, having worked at Alcova Mortgage as a loan originator and branch manger in Raliegh, North Carolina and a Loan Processer for Wacovia (Wells Fargo) Bank prior to moving to Lake Charles. Upon her move to Lake Charles, she worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a substitute teacher, then as a Loan Operations Specialist for Lakeside Bank, Loan Processer for Progressive Mortgage, and later establishing her own business as a Mortgage Broker with Lake Area Home Mortgage.
Gardening, birdwatching, frequent trips (over 30) to Disney World, NASCAR and her family are things that Tammy enjoyed immersing herself with when not working. She was a member of St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church. She also had a very tender spot for her pets, and all animals, in making sure they were well cared for and loved.
Preceding Tammy in death are mother, Karen Treese; husband, Nathan Hudson and son, Jared Johnson. Those left to her memory are her husband, Doug Lomax; children, Justin Hudson, Rebekah Lomax and Katrina Lomax; granddaughter, Cora Lomax; parents, Gerry and Judi Patterson; siblings, Kim Patterson, Wayne Cannon, Bonnie Cannon, Billy Cannon, Linda Cannon and Billy Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.

Amy Duhon Castro officiating. Immediately following the celebration the family will be gathering at Jeannie’s Bourbon Street BBQ, 915 Sampson St., Westlake, LA 70669.
