Tanya Michele Camille

Tanya Hughes Camille, 56, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 13. Tanya was born on September 10, 1969, in Asheville, NC to Jack Hughes and Maggie Tuttle. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Camille and her stepfather, Larry Tuttle. She is survived by her mother and father, her stepmother, Elaine Hughes, her brother, Chad Hughes, and her nephew, Kesler Hughes. In addition, she is survived by special aunts and uncles, Sarah Raines, Susan Kendall, Robert Hughes and Tom Hughes.
After graduating from Owen High School, Tanya received a cosmetology degree from McDowell Technical Community College in Marion, North Carolina. While she has been a hair stylist at several salons, Tanya has been making her clients beautiful at Ravin' Salon in Asheville for the past 18 years. Her clients were more like friends, and her salon family will miss her laughter, style, and larger than life personality.
Tanya lived life to the fullest. She knew how to enjoy every day. To be in the moment, while simultaneously planning her next adventure. She was on the move and loved to travel! Whether it was to her beloved Edisto Island, hair shows in Chicago, or to one of her favorite places in the mountains, Banner Elk.
Tanya never met a stranger and enjoyed a life full of friendship. To know her was to love her. She lit up every room she walked in to with her infectious laugher, bright smile and great sense of humor. Her energy and spunk were contagious. Anyone that had the privilege of being in her presence left feeling a little lighter and in better spirits.
Tanya also loved animals of all kinds. She had a special spot in her heart for dogs. Her husband often said he never knew when she might come home with another rescue! She had had too many pups over the years to name individually, but most recently her beloved Scarlet and Fletch were never far from her side.
Some of Tanya's favorite things included spending time with her best friends, Lucy, Andrea, Cindy, Gina and Eddie. She loved a good glass of Chardonnay, a soak in her hot tub with her precious nephew, watching the sunset on the beach with her friends, her mom's chicken pot pie, chocolate in any form, and we can't forget to mention the animal print! That was her signature.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals with a reception immediately following the service at the Green Tee Grille at the Black Mountain Golf Course.
Tanya is gone from this world much too soon. Her family and friends were not ready to say goodbye to her, but they will carry her spirit with them forever in their hearts.
