Tanya Marie Franklin Chatman

Tanya Marie Franklin Chatman, entered this earthly life on December 14, 1965, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Fran Franklin and Thomas Jackson. She was the fourth of five children, and the only girl. By virtue of being the only girl, she was her mother's best friend.Tanya was educated in the New Orleans Public School System. As an adult she was employed in the service industry at Service Star LLC. and for over 15 years at the Renaissance Hotel. Tanya will be remembered for her kindness, compassion and giving spirit. A loving mother to her five children. Tanya treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Tanya was a devoted wife to her husband. On August 27, 2025 at the age of 59, Tanya entered peacefully into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Jackson; her sons, Henry and Jamel Franklin; her brothers,Thomas, Terrance, Troy and Gregory Franklin; her maternal grandmother, Isabel (Madear) Hall Wilson Franklin. Tanya's life will forever be cherished and remembered by her husband, James Chatman; her children; Joandrika, Darryl and Richard; her Step-children, Iesha and Cory Barnes; her parents, Fran and Robert Javers; her grandchildren Asiah, Lamar, Italy, Ja'Mya and Cur'Chea; her great-grandchild Laci; her uncle and aunts, Frederick Franklin, Cheryl Stewart, Florence Franklin and Kathleen Washington; her brother and sister-in-law; Chris Chatman and Evelyn Chatman, nieces and nephew, Keyonia, Debony, Keyshanda, Keyshawn, Ciara, and Gregory: her dear friends, Margaret Lawrence, Charmik Collins, and Patricia Fulford and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastor, officers, and members are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday September 13, 2025 for 10:00 a.m. at Greater Evergreen Baptist Church 2243 Clouet St. New Orleans, La. 70117. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. (service time). Rev. Terrance A. Ranson, Sr. officiating. Interment: Mount Olivet Mausoleum, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave. New Orleans, La. 70122.
