Tarik Marece Thomas, 17, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024 at home. He was born August 5, 2006 in Jefferson City, Missouri, son of Tytious and Vernice Thomas.
Tarik accepted Christ at an early age. He loved God, his faith was strong, because of this Tarik was called Pastor by many. He was a loving member of Central Baptist Church. One thing Tarik enjoyed was saying grace at every family gathering.
Tarik was a student in the Jefferson City School District. A junior at Capital City High School, Tarik was known for his contribution to the Capital City Marching Band. His love for music was undeniable. His position as a percussionist fit him well. He definitely marched to the beat of his own drum.
Tarik also had dreams of being a chef. Attending Cap City High gave the opportunity for Tarik to also attend the Nichols Career Center Culinary Arts Program. His skills in the kitchen led him to compete in the Skills USA District Competition. As a youth attending West Elementary and Thomas Jefferson Middle Schools Tarik also played football and had a love for baseball.
Tarik will forever live in our hearts. A fun-loving kid with a big heart, bright eye's, beautiful smile, and many talents.
Fly High, Rik!
Tarik leaves to cherish his memories to his loving mother and father; Tytious and Vernice; brother, Isiah Turner; sister, Tamori Thomas; maternal grandmother and grandfather, Carmelita Hopson and Larry McDonald.
He leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
Tarik was preparing to be an uncle and godfather to his expecting nephew, now he will be his angel.
Tarik was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Carolyn Thomas; great-grandmothers, Willie May Hopson, Vernice McDonald, and Jo Ann Thomas; great-grandfathers, Jewel McDonald and Eddie James Thomas; and uncle Charles (PawPaw) Thomas.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Director's. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Capital Bluffs Event Center. Burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date.
