Tasha Monique Leith Schmitz, 50, of Woodbury passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Vanderbilt Hospital. Born in Fort Scott, KS., she is the daughter of John and Rhenda Holverson Leith of Grove, OK.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Kurt Schmitz of Woodbury; her daughters, Bryleigh Schmitz, Evva Schmitz and Isabell Schmitz and her siblings, Heather Fleske and Jason Leith.

Tasha was preceded in death by her son, Garrett Schmitz.

A Christian, she was a beloved Special Education Teacher at Siegel High School in Rutherford Co. Tasha received a bachelor's degree from Pittsburgh State in Social Work, but all of Tasha's daughters were fortunate enough to have her assume the role of as a stay at home mom. Throughout Tasha's life, she and her family made 7 moves and lived in 6 states and has lifelong friends everywhere. Mom's life was encompassed by "loving all but questioning everything". She always wanted to know more and know why. Everyone who knew her knows how much she loved going down rabbit holes and asking questions nobody else wanted to ask. As a continuing follower of Christ, to her it was never about the conspiracy, it was about her faith in God and how much she trusted him to deliver us from the uncertainties in this world. You could always find her in the antique shops where she loved to shop around for her new house she never got to finish, feel her at a bonfire on cool fall nights, and hear her in "that's what she said" jokes. As Tasha ended most things, "Pray about it."

A Celebration of Life with Tasha's family will be Friday, September 12, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Sanders Fork Baptist Church Picnic Pavilion 4844 Auburntown Rd., Woodbury, TN. 37190. Per the family's wishes in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Tasha Leith Schmitz fund c/o Woodbury Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St. Woodbury, TN. 37190, 615-563-2311.
