Tawna Simonson Obituary

Tawna Simonson, 47, Surrey, ND, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at a Minot Hospital.

Tawna was born October 19 1977, the daughter of Clanton and Rheadonn (Mccoy) Myers, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The family moved to Glenburn, ND, where she was raised and educated.

Tawna married the love of her life, Michael Simonson, on April 25, 1997, in Minot. They made their home in Minot before moving to Surrey in 2000 and were blessed with three children, Becca, Chandler, and Nathan.

Tawna worked for Artistry, a place where she developed many relationships with customers and coworkers. She started at the front desk and later transitioned to bookkeeping and ordering. She worked there until its closing in 2014. She then worked at Dakota Fire as a receptionist, followed by Trinity in accounting before starting at Pepsi in 2022. At Pepsi she worked as Assistant HR until her passing.

Family was incredibly important to Tawna. She dedicated her life to her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She was always up for an adventure and had a way of pushing people out of their comfort zone, leading them to thrive and join in on the adventure. Tawna and Mike would travel where the kids wanted to go, sharing so many priceless journeys, traveling to places like, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, and Rocky Mountain National Park, the trip in July 2024 to Alaska and countless to the Black Hills. Tawna and Mike also enjoyed trips alone to Las Vegas, their home away from home the Black Hills, and Detroit Lakes and wherever the car would take them. Tawna's close bond with her sister, Dawna, created many memorable trips to Las Vegas, Galveston, Texas, the New England states, and Niagara Falls and anywhere else Tawna and I traveled because I enjoyed seeing how happy being around her sister made her.

She believed in the importance of family, and her love and support created a foundation of comfort and safety for her children. Together Tawna and Mike raised their three incredible children to be independent people who aren't afraid to explore the world knowing they can always come home.

Tawna was an avid reader. She had a list of books she looked forward to reading, a list her family will complete for her. Tawna exemplified the meaning of selflessness; she was a truly sweet and caring person. Her generosity had no limits; she was always putting everyone before herself. Her legacy of kindness, happiness, and unwavering care will continue to inspire those she touched.

Her loving family includes: husband of 28 years, Mike; children, Becca, Chandler, and Nathan; grandkitten, Oliver; mom, Rheadonn (Tony Alef) Myers; sister, Dawna Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Rachel Simonson; sisters-in-law, Tammy (Rich) Olson, Karen (Tom) Guttormson, Kristi (Mike) Adams; and numerous nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her dad.

Celebration of Life: Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
