ACHEY, Ted L., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 12, 2024 at the age of 90. He will be dearly missed by those he loved the most – his family: his beloved wife, Saundra J. Achey (nee Teasley), his loving children, Susan P. Achey and the late Peter R. Achey, his dear daughter in law, Alison R. Achey and his adored grandsons, Ryan, the late William and Evan Achey. He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Georgia (nee Barnes) Achey, his sisters, Betty Jean Fannan, Freda Mae Leth and Nadine Balthrop and his father and mother in law, J.O. and Helen Teasley.
Ted was born on June 4, 1933 and raised in Paola, Kansas. He graduated from Paola High School in 1951, attended Kansas State College, Pittsburg, for 3 years and proudly served his country in the US ARMY for 2 years in Korea. He met Saundra and they married in Kansas City, Missouri on June 12, 1964 (this June would have been their 60th wedding anniversary.) As Ted was promoted in the company where he worked, Lorillard, they moved around the country to various states: Alabama, California, Minnesota and finally to New Jersey. In 1974, Ted and Saundra moved to Cherry Hill and it was here that they settled and raised their family as Ted commuted by bus every day to New York City to further his career. He loved being a business man and building relationships in and out of the workspace. He enjoyed his company conventions and trips; some highlights were playing golf at Pebble Beach, going to the Calgary Olympics in 1988 and the Super Bowl XXIII at in Miami in 1989.
Ted happily entered retirement in 1999 traveling with Saundra and company friends to the National Parks, the wild west and to Nova Scotia. When he wasn't working he was known to be an avid reader (finishing 2-3 novels a week) and a fan of daily crossword puzzles. He had a great love for music and enjoyed listening to his favorites, usually Tony Bennett or Frank, with a cocktail in hand. He adored his grandsons and supported them in all their achievements.
A visitation from 10-11:00 and a service starting at 11:00 will be held at Bradley Funeral Home in Marlton, NJ on Saturday, February 24, 2024 followed by a private burial at the convenience of the family. I am very sorry for your loss. I am curious to see if we are related. My maiden name is Achey and both of my parents are from Kansas and I have relatives in Paola. My grandfather's name was Oliver Monroe Achey

I see his smile when I think of Ted. Probably the happiest of all of my clients. (I cut his hair). He was always singing and then there was a little jig on his way out. Loved his visits and his sense of humor. I'm keeping his family in my prayers. Sending hugs of comfort.
