Elaine J. Carpenter, age 81, of Stratford, NJ, passed away suddenly on August 9, 2025.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 20, 1944, Elaine was the cherished wife of David Carpenter, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with the joys of laughter, learning and family. Her legacy continues through her children, Scott (Tristen) Carpenter, Laura Carpenter, and Kara (James) Haefele.

Elaine was a devoted grandmother, and the pride and joy she had for Garrett, Sarah and Ryan filled her later years with warmth and love. She relished in their accomplishments and time spent together. She counted them as her greatest blessings.

Elaine's love for the written word was a defining aspect of her life. An avid reader, she was a longtime member of the Stratford Library Book Club, where she shared her passion for literature and the discussions that ensued. Her daily routine included crossword puzzles and word games, which kept her mind sharp and her wit quick. Evenings were often spent playing Scrabble with her beloved husband, a testament to their shared love for language and each other.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and visitation with her family on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 2-4 PM at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt. 73 South, Marlton, NJ 08053.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Stratford Public Library, 303 Union Ave, Stratford, NJ 08084.
