Ted C. Amidon, 57, of LaFayette, New York, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 21, 2016. A lifelong resident of LaFayette, Ted was born in Syracuse to Robert and Evelyn Beard Amidon. He was a loving husband, father, brother and best friend to many-including his children. He was a contractor at Ted Amidon Construction in Tully, where he proudly worked beside his son, Lucas, but often thought about and missed the days when he operated a dairy farm.
Ted had a passion for golf, where he played in leagues at Orchard Valley and Hill-n-Dale. He was also very involved in the community, coaching basketball for the LaFayette Community Council and being a member of the LaFayette Optimist Club. Above all, Ted's family remembers him as an exceptional father and know that he would have been an amazing grandfather.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, the former Annie Apgar; a daughter, Kasey Amidon, of Tennessee; sons, Josh (Jessica) Amidon of Liverpool, Matthew Amidon of Philadelphia, and Lucas Amidon of LaFayette; mother, Evelyn of LaFayette; brothers, Stephen (Vicky) Amidon of Ohio, and Michael (Sue) Amidon and Robert (Maude St. Denis) Amidon, Jr., all of LaFayette; sisters, Kay (Larry) Gould of Syracuse, Sue (John) Vadala of Georgia, and Janice (Kevin) John of Glenville, NY; aunt, Shirley Amidon; uncles, Gary and Paul Amidon; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and too many close friends to mention. Ted was predeceased by his father, Robert Amidon, in October 2000.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at LaFayette Alliance Church, 6069 Route 20, LaFayette, New York 13084. A funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Steven Gates officiating. Burial will follow in LaFayette Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Amidon Family GoFundMe page.
