Helen Amidon

Helen E. Amidon, 96, of Owego, NY passed away at her home on Tuesday February 4, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Ronald Amidon; her parents, James Thomas Perry and Sarah Antoinette (Clark) Perry Walton; and her son-in-law, Robert Sellers. Helen is survived by her four children: Rebecca Sellers, David and Patricia Amidon, Patricia and Richard Onken, Melissa and James Neary; her grandchildren: Anjanette Copeland, Matt Sellers, Noah Sellers and Kevin Bewick, Sahra Sellers and Leonard Morioka, Kelsey and Ryan Hollenbach, Kolby Amidon, Drew and Shelby Onken, Derek Onken, Decker Onken, Katharine and Daniel Caruso, Kristen Neary; also including six great grandchildren; her brothers: James Perry and Robert Campbell, Paul and Kathleen Perry; several nieces and their families; and her loyal feline companion, Charlie.
Helen was born in Watertown, NY on May 14, 1928. She grew up in Black River, NY and graduated from Cazenovia College. Helen enjoyed working at Tioga County Social Services for many years. She was a longtime resident of the Southside and was a dedicated member of the Owego United Methodist Church. Helen was an excellent cook and baker and her delicious cinnamon rolls were always a staple of many church bake sales. She enjoyed the company of her friends in the Tuesday knitting group and loved international travel, plays and symphonies. Helen especially loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and taking care of her family. Her greatest pleasure was when she was surrounded by family and friends at her dining table.Remember to keep Helen in your thoughts when you see a sunrise, as she enjoyed so many while on her early morning walks on the hill.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main St. Owego, NY on Saturday May 17, 2025 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00pm with Pastor Nancy Adams officiating. Interment will be in Gibson Corners Cemetery, Owego.
