Ted (Theodore Ray) Christy passed away on April 20, 2022, after a hard fight with cancer. He was born on April 15, 1942, to Howard and Alma (Capshaw) Christy in Sullivan, Illinois. The family moved to Arizona when Ted was three, for his severe asthma.
Ted graduated from Sunnyslope High School with a football scholarship to the University of Arizona. During college Ted married Peggy Latchem.
They had two children, Tracey Leanne and Timothy Lane. After his graduation from the University of Arizona Ted returned to Sunnyslope High School as a teacher and a football coach. He retired in 1989 after 24 years of teaching. Ted loved to travel, fly fishing, wood working, golf, and dogs.
One of his proudest achievements was build a two-story cabin in Pine, Arizona and restore a cottage in Prescott, Arizona, both were much enjoyed by his family and friends.
In 1991 Ted married Linda Spitler-Menke and they traveled the world and enjoyed some amazing friends until his death.
Ted is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Tracy, Son Tim, 6 grandchildren and a loving blended family.
The family asks that donations to be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or Maggie's Place, P.O. Box 1102, Phoenix, AZ 85001.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301.

Ted was, and still is, one of the 'Good Guys' that you get to know rarely in life. He was full of wit and humor always looked after me, looking out for Ralph's little brother. He was a good football player, even though he wound up at that dreaded University somewhere South of the Gila River in Tucson. Good boy, Good in high schooler, and a Good man. He is missed. Our brother Ralph was on the state championship team that included Ted, who was the starting fullback at that time. Ted was not only an outstanding football player but also a humble, outgoing, and popular part of the Sunnyslope Viking student body. He will be missed by all who knew him. Sam Flores

My sympathy to Coach Christy´s Family. Coach Christy was my football coach and assisted with the wrestling team my senior year, he lead by example and was a large encouragement to me. He made me laugh, years latter we ran into each other and the first thing he said was, why weren´t you this big in high school. We had a good laugh snd talked construction on getting his license. Coach Christy was one of my football coaches at Sunnyslope High School and I remember that time with a lot of positive memories. He was a great coach and had respect for all of us. I remember after one football game in which I had played poorly that he stayed to talk to me to console me and encourage me at the same time. I have never forgotten that moment and speaks to the kind of man Coach Christy was. Coach Christy was a very good man and I will miss him!
