Ted (Tadeusz) Mierzwa of Lawrenceville for 33 years and presently residing in Columbus, Georgia since 2020 passed away suddenly on January 1st, 2024.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 6th at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The family requests your presence for a Celebration of Life Luncheon immediately following the Memorial Service to be held at the same location.
Ted Mierzwa was born in Gloglow, Poland on August 8, 1956. He immigrated to the United States with his father, Stanley, his mother Katherine, and his siblings in 1961. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and Passaic NJ, before settling in Wallington, NJ.
Ted graduated from Wallington High School in 1975 but not before marrying his High school sweetheart, Joanie Dakis (nee), in 1974. While finishing school, they lived in Lyndhurst, NJ and he also worked at the ShopRite in Little Falls. Their daughter Andrea Joan was born in 1975 before he graduated High School. After graduating he went on to join the USAF where he studied at Chunate Air Force Base where he became a Weather Specialist. He finished his tour of duty at Langley AFB, Tactical Command performing the job he trained for. He was also granted a Top Secret Clearance since he was mapping out flight plans of utmost importance for our Country. Ted was quite proud of his time serving his Country. A Military Honors Ceremony will take place in which a US flag will be presented to his wife, Joanie.
Once out of the Military, he went to RETS Electronic School to study technology. Once he graduated he packed up and he and his family moved to Lawrenceville, GA in January of 1987. They resided there until moving to Columbus, GA in 2020. While in Georgia his career fast-tracked in technology and he worked for the Companies Cisco Systems, Exact Technologies, and Amdocs where he finished his career as President of Sales of North and South America. During his time working in Technology, he had the chance to travel the world which was also something he truly enjoyed. While in his downtime in other countries, he would explore the landscape, and monuments and learn the history of wherever he traveled.
No matter what, his first and foremost love was that of his wife and children, Andrea Joan, Teddy John, and Christopher Michael. When his children got older and he retired he enjoyed the parties that were a regular thing that took place with his children and their friends. Another of his passions was cooking and he loved to cook his favorite dishes for these parties that took place. He would start cooking the day before and there would be four big pots on the stovetop for the partygoers to enjoy, while there. He was also known for his Annual Christmas Eve Parties where he cooked for days preparing. There would be an array of foreign foods cooked including Italian, Greek, and some of his Mother's favorite recipes of Polish cuisine. Food and cooking was a big part of his life and he loved to share this with others.
Ted is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanie (nee Dakis), beloved father of his daughter Andrea Joan Mierzwa Loar who resides in Simpsonville, SC, and was preceded by the death of his sons Teddy John and Christopher Michael. He is the loving Grandfather of Grandson Davis and Granddaughter Mary Cathryn. Devoted brother of Edward (Eddie), Zenon (Zen), Jane, Stanley (Stash), and Maria (Mary) with nieces, nephews, and both great-nieces and nephews.
