Ted Shelby Owens, age 78, of Eaglette, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, at his home.
Ted was born on September 21, 1947, in Eaglette, AR, to the late Henry Mack Owens and
Abbie Robinson Owens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Zettie Mae Owens Steelman Smith, Jack Owens, Fred Owens, Audrey Owens Whitten, Doris Roberson, Bill Owens, Rowland Owens, and Peggie Owens Pennington.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Beth Owens. He also leaves behind two sons, Paul (Dee) Owens of Eaglette and Jimmy (Crystal) Owens of Bearden; seven grandchildren, Cole (Isabella) Owens, Ryan Haynes, Bryce Owens, Abbie (Rylee) Rauls, Regan Owens, Chandler Haynes, and Luke Owens; and three great-grandchildren, Garrett, Haylee, and Everly. He is also survived by two brothers, Bobby Owens of Avenal, California, and John (Do-I) Owens of Fordyce.
Ted was a dedicated member of Holly Springs Baptist Church, where he faithfully served. He was an active member of the Dallas County Cattlemen’s Association and formerly served on the board of the Dallas County Farm Bureau.
A hardworking and devoted farmer, Ted dearly loved his land and took great pride in his cows. He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, walking, or logging. Ted was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army as a medic.
Ted enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams as an avid Arkansas Razorback basketball fan and a devoted Dallas Cowboys football fan.
Ted will be remembered for his strong work ethic, deep faith, love for his family, and pride in his way of life.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Benton Cemetery. To sign the online register visit www.bentonfuneralhome.net .
