Teddy Sanchez passed away on October 18, 2025, with family by his side. He was born on October 2, 1953, to Sosteno and Leonela Sanchez in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his beloved sister, Rita Saladin, and was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dan Saladin, who both cared for him for many years after the death of his Mama in 2005. He is also survived by 4 other siblings, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Teddy was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, most recently with the San Felipe de Neri Council. He served as an officer and helped with several church Fiestas throughout the years.
He loved to socialize, which led to many, many friendships. Everywhere he went he would run into someone he knew. They were always so happy to see him, especially from his former neighborhoods of Duranes and Old Town. He loved listening to Spanish music and would never pass up an opportunity to dance. Viewing will be on Tuesday, October 28, 5:00 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at Trujillo Family Funeral Home, 110 Alvarado Dr SE. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 29, 11:00 am at San Jose de Los Duranes Mission, 2110 Los Luceros Rd NW. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetary,1900 Edith Blvd NE. The Knights of Columbus, San Felipe Council, will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank The New Beginnings Staff at 19th Street for the loving care they provided to Teddy for the past 2.5 years. They were wonderful at providing Teddy with activities and socialization, as well as getting him out into the community, all of which improved his quality of life. We are also grateful for the guardianship provided by LR Case Management, LLC. They were excellent in dealing with all legal, financial, and medical issues required for caring for Teddy. We will be forever grateful for all individuals involved.
