Maud, OK resident Teddy “Ted” Ray Phillips passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 in Tecumseh at the age of 86. Ted was born on January 12, 1939 in Seminole to Raymond Harold and Bonnie Doone (Wallace) Phillips. He married the love of his life Juanita Hopper on December 28, 1963 at the Presbyterian Church in Shawnee, OK. Ted proudly served in the Army National Guard. Over the years he worked as a welder and then was self-employed as a truck driver hauling gravel and sand. He traveled with his work in construction but Maud was always home. Ted enjoyed taking drives, gardening and bee keeping.
Ted is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Phillips; three daughters and sons-in-law, Raydonna and Eugene Robertson, Lanetta and Eddie Sweeny and Deanna and Charles Barksdale; five grandchildren, Erica Grimes, Derick Robertson, Preston Crawford, Nathan Crawford and Cloie Barksdale; eight great grandchildren, Amos, Titus, Piper, Reece, Castle, Copelyn, Casen and Everly and many other family and friends.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Bonnie Wallace Phillips and a host of extended family members.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Preston Crawford, Nathan Crawford, Derick Robertson, Charles Barksdale, Chad McQuin, Steven Grimes, Amos Grimes and Titus Grimes. Honorary casket bearers will be Eugene Robertson, Eddie Sweeny and Clarence Robertson.
Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, OK. James Hopper will be officiating. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
