Tekia M. Statton was born on October 10, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as the beloved daughter of Thomas and Carol Statton and the beloved granddaughter of Leota Endsley and Ermon Endsley Sr. Tekia sadly passed away on June 9th, 2025 at the young age of 69.
Tekia will be forever loved and deeply missed by her surviving family and many friends. She is survived by her older siblings, Dana Brown and Michael Statton, as well as her younger brother Lynn Statton alongside her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, including Lance Parrish, Stormy Rodriguez, Shilo Brown, Shane Brown and Sofia Brown. Tekia looked after all her family members with the utmost dedication and care, she was always willing to help others regardless of what she was dealing with herself.
Tekia was employed by the state of Oklahoma for 30 years at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. She retired after a lifetime of service as a transportation manager in the Right of Way and Utilities Division. In Tekia's younger years, she also served as one of the first female firefighters at Tinker Airforce Base. Even after her retirement from ODOT, she continued her hard work as a certified General Real Estate Appraiser and Senior Right of Way Professional doing appraisal contracts for various agencies and municipalities.
When Tekia wasn't working, she spent her time travelling. She loved discovering places and sharing them with her loved ones. She had an adventurous spirit for always trying something new and exciting. Tekia was a devoted Thunder fan who held season tickets since the team moved to Oklahoma. She enthusiastically supported the Thunder through ups and downs, attending every home game and even some away games. Tekia was also a foodie at heart, enjoying both trying exotics cuisines and sharing her own cooking with her friends and family. She was truly a generous and giving soul, Tekia would do anything for the people close to her. Not only that, Tekia loved animals. She would spare no expense taking care of her own dogs and cat and Tekia even made sure to feed the geese at her property every single day.
Tekia was most definitely one of a kind. She was a bright and shining light, a beacon of comfort to all that knew her. Tekia will forever be deeply missed, leaving us all a little bit more empty inside.
