Teófilo Torres Quiles

Teófilo Torres Quiles, affectionately known as "Papaluis," passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the remarkable age of 98. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, Teófilo lived a life defined by service, strength, faith, and an unwavering love for his family and community.

Born on May 2, 1927, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Teófilo was the beloved son of the late Manuela Q. Bluett. His early years were shaped by hard work, deep faith, and strong family values-principles that guided him throughout his life. In 1954, he moved to Colorado Springs, where he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Teófilo proudly served his country for 20 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and serving during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Teófilo was preceded in death by his mother, Manuela Q. Bluett; his beloved wife, Carmen M. Quiles; and his son, Louie Quiles, Jr. He leaves behind a lasting legacy through his children: Rosemary Quiles, Norma Jean Quiles, Robert Quiles, Anna M. Flores, Teresa M. Martinez, and Sylvia M. Martinez. He was a proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren, a great-grandfather to 45 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandfather to 19.

Known for his strong personality and memorable presence, Teófilo left an impression on everyone he met. He had a passion for bingo, where he found a second family at the Brigadoon Apartments. He also enjoyed fishing, gambling, and faithfully cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Brookehill Funeral Home, with a private family visitation from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., followed by public visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
