Teresa Arreguin

Teresa Arreguin, born on May 20, 1941, in Michoacan, Mexico, passed away on November 4, 2024, in Joliet, IL surrounded by her family. A devoted mother and grandmother, Teresa was a woman of deep faith who cherished her close relationship with God. She was well-known for her delicious cooking, especially cooking for her family on birthdays and holidays. Some of her favorite foods include breakfast omelets, enchiladas, pozole, and tamales. She enjoyed family gatherings and would enjoy a nice cold beer as her beverage of choice. Teresa was a beloved figure in her church community, where she found solace and joy in prayer, especially praying the Rosary. She had many church friends who shared their love and kindness toward her and will miss her dearly. Friends and family will remember her strong spirit and sense of humor, as she loved to share stories of her life, often with a touch of sarcasm that would leave everyone laughing. Widowed in 1992, Teresa dedicated herself to her children: Sara Calvert (Russell), Sandra Carlos (Arturo), Sonia Neyland, Ruben Arreguin, and Teresa Arreguin (Leo Alicea). She was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, always eager to share her blessings and life lessons with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben, her parents, Guadalupe and Francisco, her brother Heraclio, and sister Carmen. Teresa is survived by her loving family, including 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, her siblings, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends who will all miss her dearly. Mama, as she was affectionately known, had a remarkable gift for making each person feel special. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched, especially in the church, her favorite place where she felt closest to God. Teresa's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will forever remain in the memories of her family and friends.
