Teresa Womack Pope

EFLAND ~ Teresa Womack Pope, 68, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Hock Family Pavillon. She was born in Durham to the late John Edward Womack and Nellie Byrd Womack. She is also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Ronnie Thomas Pope; her grandmothers, Louise Womack and Ola Byrd.
She retired in 2013 from the Orange County Sheriff's Office under the watchful eye of the late Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass, whom she loved dearly and he loved her just as much. The highlight of her summer was going to Myrtle Beach for Mustang Week and staying at The Towers Motel with all of her beach friends. Teresa found great joy when she and Ronnie decorated for Christmas and people came from all over to see the thousands of lights.
Ms. Pope is survived by her sister, Linda Lunsford; daughter, Stephaine Rudd (Joseph); son, Ronnie T. Pope, Jr. (Michelle); grandchildren, Brittanie Thompson and Matthew Stovall; great grandson and best buddy, Jesse Milam; nephews, John Lunsford (children Ali and Brianna), Jamie Lunsford (children Keaton and Campbell), Jason Lunsford (wife, Elizabeth and children, Taylor and Kaitlyn); fur baby, Ringo. She is also survived by her friend Freddie Ivey, who was more like family than a friend.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Clements Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ned Thorpe officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery in Efland. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clements Funeral Home in Hillsborough.
