Teresa Gay Short

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Teresa Gay Short, affectionately known as Terri, on January 1, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on July 13, 1963, in California, Terri embraced life fully and created a warm and loving home in Gastonia, North Carolina, where she was surrounded by family and friends.

Terri was the proud owner and operator of Sweets and Eats, a catering service that delighted many with her amazing cooking and creative flair. She had a love for music that was as infectious as her laughter. Whether she was belting out a tune at karaoke, crafting a new recipe, or joking around with her loved ones, Terri's vibrant spirit shined through everything she did.

She is survived by her loving children, Brandy Short and Joshua Fisher; her caring mother, Beverly Frye; grandchildren, Braden Fisher, Ethan Allen, and Zoey Allen; brothers, Randy Cobbs (Brenda), Lee Cobbs (Lisa), niece, Ashley Cobbs; great niece, Sierra Cobbs; adopted family, Clyde Lee Alexander and Cheryl Jacobs. Together, they will cherish the countless memories of her creativity, humor, and boundless love.

All services will be held private by the family.

May her memory remain a source of joy for all of us. Rest in peace, Terri. You will be missed more than words can say.

Teresa was preceded in death by: Father, Don Frye; niece, Kayla Cobbs; and uncle, Arnold Price.
