Teressa Basa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barber Memorial Home, Inc. - Johnson City on Oct. 15, 2024.
Teressa Basa, 96, Binghamton, NY passed away on Sunday October 13th at her daughter's home after declining health this past year. She struggled with leaving her family and wanted everyone to be happy and kind to each other. Born to Charles and Erva LaBarre who predeceased her, the family moved many times within the Watertown / Rome area, finely making a permanent home in Conklin, NY. Teressa, or Tressy or Sister as she was fondly referred to, was also predeceased by her husband Francis A. Basa in 2017. Predeceased also by her 5 LaBarre brothers: Leon, and wife Emma Jane, Robert (Bobby), and wife Carolyn, LaValle, David, and Donald, and wife Stella, brother-in-law Gordon Steere and brother-in-law James Karns along with her sisters: Janet, and husband Daniel Strnatka, Evelyn LaBarre Torrey, Donna, and husband Richard Stack. Teressa is survived by her last two sisters, Dorothy Steere and Lois Karns, sister-in-law Marion LaBarre, her children Julia(David Wood), Peggy and Frank Jr. along with granddaughter Michele, and Great-grandson Tyler. Also, many nieces and nephews that had their school pictures on the dining room wall plaque and that she wished the best for. Mom briefly had a career as an office secretary until her marriage and then happily spent life as a mother and homemaker. Her scalloped potatoes became an expected side dish at all family gatherings. For a time, she also made beautiful, decorated cakes for special occasions. She was a quiet and gentle woman but had a spunky side that always came out at unexpected moments. Mom didn't have a wrinkle on her face even though she worried about everything and everyone. Many thanks to Hospice workers Brittini, Kim, Christa, and all the others that came out to attend to Mom. Their assistance with her care is greatly appreciated. Private burial services are planned for Friday October 18" at 11am at Conklin Cemetery.
