Terrence C. Herman, of Timberlake, Ohio, died peacefully on December 5th, 2024, following an extended illness.
Terry was born in Cleveland on February 26th, 1945, to the late Harold (Bud) and Alice (née Curtin) Herman. He attended St. William's grade school and then graduated from St. Joseph's High School (Euclid) in 1963. Two years later, Terry married his best friend and the love of his life, the late Janet C. Herman (née Brazalovics).
Terry worked in various positions before beginning a long career as a systems analyst and program manager at the phone company (Ohio Bell, AT&T, and Ameritech). He retired in 1999 to enjoy time with his family and longtime friends. Terry liked to golf from early adulthood and, as he got older, enjoyed weekly gatherings and trivia games at Pickles and Pints (Willoughby) with his friends and late cousin, Brendan Vana. Later in life, Terry developed an interest in genealogy, treasuring memories of his trip to Ireland in 2000. He especially loved cars-tinkering with them, buying and selling them, and learning about them-and used this lifelong hobby to work alongside his younger son, Jon, at JPH Auto (Eastlake) from 1997 until 2020. Terry's true passion, however, was his family and friends. He consistently supported the people he loved with one goal in mind: their respective happiness. He did this with grace, character, and a generous side of dry wit and humor. (In true Irish style, he was a born storyteller, known to embellish stories on occasion.) His unassuming, silent strength was a pillar to his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Terry is survived by his three children: Terrence P., Christine and her wife Wendy, and Jonathon and his wife Claire; by his beloved granddaughter, Gabriella; by his sister and brother-in-law, Diane Schneider LeBlanc (née Herman) and Orien LeBlanc, and multiple nieces and nephews; by his sister in-law Janis Roth (née Brazalovics); by his cousin Jeff Vana; and by many other loving relatives and friends.
Terry's family extends their deepest gratitude to the caring staff of Breckenridge Village, Hillcrest Hospital, and Hospice of the Western Reserve. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Terry's name to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Hospice of the Western Reserve, or the Ohio Living Foundation.
All services were private.
