Terrie Mathis Obituary
Terrie was born in Edinburgh, Indiana, July 9, 1946, one of eleven children born to Harry O. and Alvina Louise Coy Richards. Terrie was the faithful wife of Dale Eugene Mathis to whom she married September 16, 1961; he preceded her in death May 29, 1971.
Terrie was raised in Brown County, Indiana. Terrie was employed in housekeeping at the former Imperial 400 Motel in Columbus and later worked in food preparation for Aramark Food Services.
Terrie cherished the time she spent with her family and she always enjoyed a trip to the casino.
Terrie will be remembered by her children, Greg (Carol) Mathis of Columbus, David (Melvina) Mathis of Seymour, Teresa Mathis and her companion, Todd of Hope and Fabian (Renee) Mathis of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Mathis of Hope; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon (Delbert) Lucas of Brown County and Bonnie Roach of Brown County; brother, Albert Richards of Scipio; God-daughter, Tammy Smith of Greensburg; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Terrie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Timothy Dale Mathis; granddaughter, Misty Mathis; brothers, Ronnie, Bob, Gomer, Timmy J. and Jim Richards; and sisters, Cheryl Richards and Nina Harrison.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Rick Leonard will officiate. The funeral service will live stream at barkesweaverglick.com.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Terrie will be laid to rest at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. In memory of Terrie, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
