Terrolyn Dukes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Melson Funeral Services - Frankford Chapel on Jan. 12, 2026.
Terrolyn "Terry" K. Dukes, age 65, of Frankford, Delaware, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in the comfort of her own home.

Terry was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, on July 26, 1960, the daughter of the late James Bruce Wood and the late Lettye Jane (Mason) Wood. She was a graduate of Sussex Central High School, Class of 1978.

Terry was outgoing and had a genuine love for helping others, especially youth and the elderly. Her entire working career was dedicated to customer service, driven by a strong desire to serve her community. She began her career with Bodies Dairy Markets, then Bunting & Bertrand, and later worked in a school cafeteria. Terry also served as a teller with Wilmington Trust and M&T Bank before concluding her career in guest relations at Beebe's Lab and Imaging in Millville, Delaware.

Terry and her husband, Martin, enjoyed traveling together, especially taking their RV to Florida. These trips allowed Terry to do what she loved most-meeting new people-as she truly was a "people magnet." She was a faithful member of Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, where she made countless friends and continued to grow in her relationship with the Lord.

In addition to her parents, Terry was preceded in death by her daughter, Deena Bunting; and two brothers, Daniel Cropper and Greg Cropper.

She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Martin D. Dukes; a son, Dustin Bunting and his wife, Cassie, of Georgetown, Delaware; a stepson, Michael Dukes and his wife, Laura, of Florida; two grandchildren, Brayden Bunting and Jaxon Bunting; a brother, David L Wood and his wife, Faith, of Millsboro ,Delaware, Justin Wood and his wife, Danielle, of New Jersey; a sister, Holli of Millsboro Delaware; Sister in law Patti Cropper of Georgetown Delaware , and Brother in laws, David Dukes and wife Christine of Blackstone, Va, Daniel Dukes and wife of Denise of Frankford, Delaware and several nieces and nephews.

Terry's life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and faith. Whether through a welcoming smile, a listening ear, or a helping hand, she made everyone she encountered feel seen and valued. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the love she shared so freely, and the unwavering faith she carried in her heart. Though she will be deeply missed, her family and friends find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

A service to celebrate Terry's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, DE 19947. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Terry's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Delmarva Teen Challenge by visiting www.delmarvateenchallenge.org

Terri was a caring and compassionate woman. She was always so sweet and bubbly. She has been taken way too soon. She is in the loving hands of her Lord. God bless.
