Therese Veronica "Terry" O'Brien, a woman of profound faith, elegance, and unwavering devotion to her family, entered into eternal rest on February 16, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. She was 75 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 8, 1951, to the late John and Theresa Kelly, Terry was the epitome of class and grace. A devout Catholic, she found her greatest strength in her prayer life, which served as her compass through all of life's challenges. She did not simply tell others how to live; she showed them through her actions, thoughtfulness, and her selfless spirit.

Terry shared 56 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Thomas O'Brien. Their journey began in Germany while Thomas served in the U.S. Army; from those humble beginnings, they built a remarkable life defined by adventure and love. Together, Terry and Thomas traveled to many countries across Europe, Asia, and Australia, reaching more corners of the earth than most will ever see.

A gifted florist for many years, Terry was known for her extraordinary creativity, making every family milestone and community event truly special. Known as the "host of hosts," she welcomed everyone with warmth and kindness, ensuring that every guest felt supported and valued.

Her compassion extended to those in need, particularly through her dedication to children and families. She spent many years organizing food donations for U.S. service families and veterans during the holidays, always ensuring those who served were remembered.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her two sons, Shawn O'Brien and his wife Renee, and Daniel O'Brien, and her cherished grandson, Evan Daniel O'Brien, a junior at Westmont college. She was the dear sister of Robert, Geraldine (Patrick), Matthew (Ruth), Mary Jane (Howard), Christopher, Michael (Colleen), and Patricia (Richard). She was predeceased by her brother, John.

A funeral viewing will be held at Melson's Funeral Home (38040 Muddy Neck Rd, Ocean View, DE 19970) on 02/26 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe (35318 Church Rd, Frankford, DE 19945) on 02/27 at 2PM. Burial Service will be immediately afterward at Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Flowers for services will come from Bethany Florist (36570 Camp Barnes Road, Frankford, DE 19945).
