William Davis Obituary

Tom's Obituary

William Thomas Davis, 90, of Dagsboro, Delaware passed away, at home, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. On June 10, 1935, Tom was born to the late Arthur P. Davis and Anna Mae (Rash) Davis. He was born at home in Georgetown, Delaware. Tom was one of eight children, and he was raised in Georgetown.

In 1953, Tom graduated from Georgetown High School. He was a proud Golden Knight and he played baseball. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, and he nobly served in Germany. Tom was a proud U.S. Veteran.

For over 50 years, he worked for the Arrow Safety Device Company in Georgetown as the Traffic Manager. Upon his retirement, he was the company's President. He also worked in security for Resort Patrol. After retirement, Tom was not ready to hang up his work ethic. He worked for the Sussex County Council, for almost 10 years, as a Security Guard at the Administrative Building in Georgetown. For several summers, well into his eighties, he volunteered at the Senior League Softball World Series in Roxana, Delaware as dugout security.

Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing baseball with various teams, including Arrow Safety Device and the Gators. He shined on the mound, as a pitcher, and he passed the love for ball to his granddaughters.

Tom loved horses, especially his beloved Challenger, horse riding with family and friends, barrel racing, and rodeo events. He also rode horses in local parades. Tom was an avid hunter, he was a gun enthusiast, he enjoyed fishing and crabbing, watching his favorite NASCAR driver Bill Elliott, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies, watching old westerns and shows, reading western books, and he enjoyed classic country music.

Tom was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He placed others' needs above his own, and he enjoyed every moment with those he loved and held dear.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Chuck Davis and Kip Davis, and his five brothers and only sister: Norman; Paul; John, Sr.; Arthur 'Buck'; Dorothy King; and James.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, of 48 years, Carol L. Davis, his brother Robert (Grace), his two sons William 'Chris' Davis and John Walter, Jr. (Vickie), his two daughters Cindy L. Blades (JR) and Tanya L. Marvel (Brian), 11 grandchildren, nine great – grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where a funeral service will begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow at St. George's Cemetery in Clarksville, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Tom's name to Lower Sussex Little League PO Box 372, Ocean View, DE 19970 or the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Yesterday

I worked at the County with Tom while he was there for several years. Tom was kind, conscientious, considerate, and without a doubt, one of the friendliest people working there. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in heavenly peace Tom.
