It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry 'Duke' Dalton, age 81, of Morgantown, West Virginia, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Terry leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, faith, and kindness.
Born to Bert Dalton and Addie Mae (Murray) Dalton, Terry's early life was shaped by deep family bonds. After Bert's untimely passing, Addie later married Cosper Dalton, and together they built a loving home where faith and family were the foundation of life.
Terry is survived by his cherished children, Lora 'Toby' (Charles) Blosser, James 'Jed' (Tammy) Dalton, Nelson Ray (Rosemary) Dalton, and Laticia 'Muffy' (Zane) Elliott of Albright. His joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Travis Blosser, Jason Blosser, Anthony Frame, Ashley Cottrell, Terie Dalton, Chris Belt, Andrew McIntyre, James West, Elizabeth West, Emma Scoggins, Madison Elliott, Cassandra Posey, and Rachel Posey. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, who will remember their grandpa with love. Additionally, he is survived by three brothers: Casper Dalton, Jr., Marvin Dalton, and Joey Dalton.
Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Dalton, his beloved daughter, Becky Posey, and his granddaughter, Kimberly Posey, along with several siblings, who have welcomed him home.
Terry was known for his unwavering faith and dedication to reading the Bible, always seeking to deepen his understanding of God's word. He was a gentle soul whose simple ways and kind heart touched everyone he met. For 25 years, he dedicated his skills to the City of Morgantown before continuing in his trade, working alongside friends and family in concrete and trucking.
A passionate outdoorsman, Terry loved coon hunting with his dogs, often touted as owning the best dogs in the country. He enjoyed watching horse pulls and dancing to the rhythm of country music while relishing in the charm of classic westerns.
Friends and family will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and again on Wednesday from 1 pm until the time of services at 2 pm, with Pastor Donna Dalton officiating. Duke will rest with his wife at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice and caretaker Billie for their compassionate respect during this time.
