West Exeter

Terry Lee Gray, 69, of Utica and formerly of West Exeter, Cedarville, and Cornelia, Ga, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born on November 7, 1956 at Ilion Hospital, a son of the late Harold Frederick and Gertrude Alice (Dye) Gray and was educated at West Winfield Central School. Terry was employed as a farm hand with several local farms in West Exeter, and Edmeston, a custodian with West Winfield School District and at some point with timber and chicken processing companies in Georgia. He attended Masses at Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing.

He loved sports (Ohio State, Giants, Jets, Yankees, Mets) and enjoyed collecting baseball and football cards. He was himself an athlete, becoming an expert bowler, winning several trophies in a Utica bowling league. He had a particular fondness for Richfield Springs fish sandwiches and our mother's macroni salad.

Terry found a path in life that others may only sometimes glimpse. He was described as jovial with a great sense of humor, patient with others, and he was happy. He loved and he was loved, and he left those gifts with us.

Surviving are his sister, Kathleen Ann Gray Harris, Sherburne, NY; brothers, Thomas Walter Gray, Silver Spring, MD and Richard Eric (Pamela) Gray, Vestal, NY; brother-in-law, John Vriesema and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Koreen Alice Gray Vriesema, Richfield Springs, niece Carla Harris, Eureka, California, and brother-in-law, Gerald Harris, of Norwich.

Terry's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, especially, Yvette and Jessica from activities and Paula and the rest of the 4th floor staff for all their wonderful care and compassion, as well as for all the time and times of care individually by Kathy, Koreen, Tom, Rick, Vickie, Carla, and Linda Dye Boss.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on a date yet to be determined, likely in the Spring during warmer weather. Arrangements are with Wilcox & Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield.
