Terry Warren Johnson, 75, of Columbia, TN, died on November 5, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Born January 28, 1948, in Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Warren Hardin Johnson and the late Audrey Hartman Johnson. Terry was a standout athlete for the Class of 1966 at Bellevue High School and continued his education at Austin Peay State University, where he played football. He had a successful career in insurance and is the founder of Terry Johnson Insurance Agency. In addition, he was the owner of Columbia Oil Company and was known for his entrepreneurial spirit.
Terry was a great father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and companion that loved deeply and had a generous spirit. The family appreciates the support and condolences during this difficult time. A private family service will be held at his beloved farm at a later date.
Survivors include his fiancée, Sandy Baker, his children: Ted (Marnie) Johnson of Columbia, Denise (Andrew) Pike of Franklin, and Leslie (Chris) Anderson of Brentwood, and 8 grandchildren, and one great-grandson that he loved deeply. The grandchildren are Hardin (Ashley Caroline) Johnson, Carolina Johnson, Walker (Chloe) Trent, Will Pike, Mary Claire Pike, Lucy Anderson, Matthew Anderson, and Lainey Anderson and great grandson Sullivan Trent.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers, James Johnson and Tony Johnson.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday, November 9th from 4-8 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Road Church of Christ, 7407 Old Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209 or Columbia Academy Athletic Department, 1101 W. 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401.
