Terry Jane LaCarrubba née Pease, 60, of
Gray, ME, passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2025, after complications from a long-term illness.
Terry made every single person she spoke to feel special and comfortable. Her home on Spruce Drive, where she was raised, was home to all. Her door was always open and welcoming to friends.
Born October 26, 1964, to Jane Ifemy Pease and Earle Pease, she spent her birthdays giving back to others and her family would often receive gifts on her day. Terry was extremely generous with a goal to bring as much fun to everyone as possible. An absolute Halloween queen, she went above and beyond with decorations, costumes, and goodie bags for the entire community. Families would flock to the neighborhood on the 31st to see what theme she had picked that year. Some may remember her 9 years hosting pumpkin carving parties where we would all be lovingly forced to play games and participate in relay races - for prizes of course. Every single pumpkin carved was awarded an individualized "best of" category, thoughtfully crafted on the spot by the queen herself.
In her early years, Terry was a driven athlete and loyal teammate. She excelled at basketball, field hockey and softball throughout her time at Gray-New Gloucester High School. She and her brother Toby would always play basketball together in the driveway of their home. He purposely would play rough with her to toughen her up. She turned out to be a beast on the boards!
Terry was courageous and adventurous, always willing to try new things fearlessly. After working at Pineland and spending two years at University of Maine Orono, she hit the road with her best friend Valerie to explore the country. Shortly after returning, she went to Florida on her own to work at a restaurant, while living in a seaside tent in Key West, where she met her now ex-husband, Michael. They traveled to Alaska together only a month after they met, before settling down in Gray to start their family. This was Terry's motto: go for it, and whatever you do, just own it.
Terry's true essence was positive, carefree and happy, When she entered the room, the party started. She hosted countless dinners, holidays, Super Bowl parties and pre-dance "getting ready" gatherings. She loved her friends and family deeply, offering her undying loyalty, support, and a "judgment-free" zone. Her laugh was loud, unapologetic, and contagious. As a fierce mother bear, her children Angelina and John were her pride and joy and there was nothing she wouldn't do for them. She inspired her children to chase their dreams, no matter how big.
Above all, her energy made even the most mundane situations magical. She spent her final day at her favorite place in the world, the beach.
Terry is survived by her devoted children: Angelina LaCarrubba and her fiance Jacob Reilly of Rhode Island, and John LaCarrubba and his girlfriend Abby Bailey of Gray; her mother and champion caretaker, Jane Pease, of Gray; her father, Earle Pease and wife Beverly, of Wayne; her siblings: Toby Pease and wife Dawn of Utah, Torianne Pease of Portland, Tracy Murphy and husband Jayson of Scarborough, and Tyson Pease of Dover, NH; nieces and nephews: Brandon Pease and wife Laura, Josh Pease, Justin Pease, Jesse Murphy, Sarah Murphy, and Jacob Murphy as well as grandnephew and nieces, Zachary and Sophia Romero and Ellery Pease. She was predeceased by niece Megan Pease. In addition to her family, Terry leaves behind a large community of friends, innumerable memories and two sweet dogs who she adored, Bella and Lola.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Monday, September 1, at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to The Shaker Village in her name. Terry knew Brother Arnold since her time at Gray- New Gloucester High School taking the Shaker Studies class. Her children took the same class and all have enjoyed attending Shaker Church on Sunday.
