Terry Lee McIntire, 65, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on August 29, 1959, Terry, known for his infectious smile, lived a full and meaningful life, marked by his dedication to family, country, and personal passions.
Terry proudly served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he worked as an Aviation Electrician, retiring after 30 years as a Master Chief Petty Officer, demonstrating exceptional skill and commitment. His career in the Coast Guard was a testament to his character and patriotism.
Beyond his professional life, Terry cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 30 years, Laurie Vance McIntire. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter and warmth. Terry adored his grandchildren and found immense joy spending time with them.
Terry's interests were varied and reflected his zest for life. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends. He had a deep affection for westerns, enjoyed traveling, and took pride in working in his yard. One of the things he liked best was savoring his favorite treat-ice cream.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry Leverne "Mac" McIntire and Betty Sue Drake McIntire.
Terry leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories with his surviving family: his wife, Laurie; daughter, Dana Spence (Kyle) of Jacksonville, FL; son, Jason Lee McIntire (Natalie) of Morehead City, NC; two brothers, Dan McIntire (Beverly) of Virginia Beach, VA and Greg McIntire (Pamela) of Sunset Beach, NC; and his grandchildren, Beckett and Averie McIntire, and Michael Spence.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center for their care and compassion shown to Terry and his family and friends.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Terry's memory and the impact he had on those around him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals, 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517, in Terry's name to support families in need.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, dedication, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
