Terry Lynn Morris, 81, passed away on October 2, 2025, after an extended illness. Terry was born August 8, 1944. He always found humor in how easy it was for him to remember his birthdate, 8-8-44. Terry was born and raised in southwest Columbus where he attended Franklin Heights High School. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Martha Morris, brothers Keith Allen and John Franklin, and by his loving son, Todd Alan. Terry was a member of Westgate Baptist Church for many years
After graduation, he met the love of his life, Shirley (Caines) Morris Theirs was the romantic story of falling in love with the girl next door, but never knowing each other until being introduced by a mutual friend. Their loving relationship lasted 60 years, during which time they were blessed with two wonderful sons, Todd Alan and Troy Aron.
Terry was employed by General Motors for the majority of his working career (over 38 years). He was an avid sports enthusiast, belonging to the Hilltop Sportsman's Club and several other hunting, fishing and gun clubs. Terry was the proud owner of a few prized "muscle" cars, including one of the first Pontiac GTO's in central Ohio, followed by other really cool cars, including an Oldsmobile 442.
Terry was very proud to have served 6 years in the Ohio Air National Guard, including the time his unit was activated and then was stationed in South Korea, contributing to the defense of our country.
Terry's favorite joy in life was spending time with his family. When his boys were younger, bowling was a particular favorite, but as they grew older, fishing was Terry's favorite hobby. Many family vacations were of spending time at their favorite lake near Jamestown, New York, packing up the truck, the boat, and of course the dog, and heading to their favorite cabin on the lake, where Terry would spend hundreds of hours, teaching his sons the joy of fishing, learning to respect mother nature and teaching them their responsibility to the environment.
Terry's many hobbies made him a very interesting person, sought out by those who shared the same interests. Terry loved designing and manufacturing his own fishing lures, to the acceptance of a professional level. Through enjoying and perfecting all of these hobbies, and his willingness to share his knowledge, and encouraging others with the same interest, certainly earned him the friendship and respect from those who knew him.
We will be forever grateful for the time we got to share with Terry. He leaves behind the love of his life, Shirley, his devoted son, Troy, sister-in-law Fonnie Scoles, several cousins, nieces and nephews, other extended family and many friends, but most of all, he leaves the legacy of being a "Great Family Man." His kind nature and gentle spirit will be missed by many.
A memorial service is being planned for a future date.
