Terry Parent

Terry Albert Parent, 64, passed away peacefully in the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country on December 6, 2025, in Mooers, New York.
Born on September 20, 1961, in Plattsburgh, New York, Terry lived a life marked by deep compassion, unwavering loyalty, and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Peru Central High School's Class of 1980, Terry went on to dedicate his professional life to serving others. He began his career at the Watertown Correctional Facility, where he worked with commitment and integrity for 25 years before retiring in 2008. Never one to remain idle, Terry continued working at Straight Line Fire from 2009 until his move back to Plattsburgh in 2017. His most cherished role came later in life during his time at Valhaven Adult Home in Peru. There, his love for people shone brightest as he brought comfort and joy to residents and colleagues alike until illness led him to step away in 2022.
Terry was best known for his infectious sense of humor and boundless compassion. Whether casting a line into the water or cruising down the road on his beloved motorcycle with "the boys," Terry found joy in simple pleasures and shared that joy freely with those around him. He had a gift for making people feel uniquely special, his laughter was contagious, and his presence uplifting.
Family was the cornerstone of Terry's life. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 43 years, Brenda Parent; his loving mother, Linda Parent of Mooers; two sisters, Pamela (Terry) Parent and Cheryl (Brian) Cech of Plattsburgh; two brothers, John Parent of Burlington, Vermont, and Christopher (Kerri) Parent of Peru; along with many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Terry; also his in-law's all from Quebec, Canada, Sandra (Claude) Ouellet, Johanne Lagace, Lynn (Greg) Lagace, and brother in law Guy Lagace, his chosen family, those friends who became brothers, held a special place in his heart.
Terry was predeceased by his father Bernard Parent; and a beloved nephew, Aaron Lee Ashline.
He found great happiness spending time with both family and friends, whether gathered around a campfire or sharing stories over coffee, and he treasured every moment spent with his cherished pets, Panda and Patches. His kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May Terry's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of love and laughter in the world he leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers.
