John Parent Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Donnell Funeral Home on Feb. 20, 2026.
John D. Parent, Jr, 84, of Windham, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, at Aspen Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Haverhill, MA.

He was the devoted husband for over 61 years of Joanne (Rogers) Parent, who died September 7, 2025.

Born in Littleton, NH on June 5, 1941, the son of the late John D. and Marie (Levesque) Parent, he was a graduate of Littleton High School, Class of 1958.

John was very proud to be a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Montgomery, Alabama and became a medical technician at Gunter Air Force Base. He was later transferred to Hanscom Field and served as a medic at the 3245th U.S.A.F. Dispensary. He was honorably discharged in 1963.

In a career spanning over 60 years in sales, John began his career as a door-to-door salesman with the Fuller Brush Company and ended his career as an independent sales representative with Future Supply Corporation in Londonderry, NH.

John was a car enthusiast. He belonged to the Spindle City Corvette Club during the years he owned a 1963 Corvette, and loved attending car shows. It was said that he "never met a car he didn't buy." He was also a lifelong fan of the Blue Angels and always looked forward to spending an afternoon at an air show.

John would often regale friends and family alike with tales of growing up in Littleton, NH and of his time in the Air Force. However, his greatest joy and source of pride was his family. He would bend anyone's ear and share a story about his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, including bragging rights that he had just become a great-grandfather.

John is survived by his daughter, Dr. Leah Geary and her husband, Atty. Michael Geary of Lowell, his son, Dr. J. Daniel Parent and his wife, Dr. Dawna Parent of Windham, NH, four grandchildren Brynn Geary and Reese Geary both of Lowell, Dr. Nicole Parent of Manchester, NH, Riley Parent and his wife Avery of Merrimack, NH, great-granddaughter, Rory Parent, of Merrimack, NH, sister-in-law Marilyn Parent of The Villages, FL, several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Parent.

John's family would also like to thank the staff at Aspen Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and the staff at Compassus Hospice Care for their compassionate care of John, lovingly nicknamed "JP" by the staff.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning, February 26, 2026 at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in Lowell, MA from 9:00 to 10:45 A.M. followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated in Church at 11:00 A.M. A private burial will follow at New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. E-condolences and directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com. Due to the Lenten season, Kindly Omit Flowers. Those wishing may make contributions in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Fund at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Arrangements by the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Lowell, MA 978-458-8768.
