Terry was born on April 24, 1957 to the late Howard V. and Virginia 'Ginny' L. (Ligon) Roop in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia.
He graduated from Shelby High School Class of 1975. He retired in 2023 from Rocket Chevrolet as a Master Technician. Throughout the years, Terry was a member of Shelby FOE, Shelby Moose Lodge #422, American Legion Post #326, a charter member of the American Legion #326 Riders Chapter and Shelby Owls.
Terry enjoyed working on cars, riding his motorcycle, gardening, watching birds and doing handy man jobs. His passion was music, where he started playing guitar around the age of 5 years. Throughout his life, he played guitar and sang in many bands, with his current band being '99 to Main'.
He will be missed by his wife, Christina (Haley) Roop, whom he married on August 2, 1997. He leaves behind his children, Angie (Pat) Gaietto and Jeremy Roop; grandchildren: Andy, Dominic, Isaac, Jared and Collin; great grandchildren, Aceyn and Aleigha; siblings: Larry (Nancy) Roop, Linda (Dennis) Brock and Shirley (Jerrod) Williams; mother-in-law, Diana Haley; brother-in-law, Joe (Andrea) Haley; sister-in-law, Becky Wing; nieces, nephews and other family members with whom he had special relationships.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Amy Roop; brother and sister-in-law, William and Diane Roop and father-in-law, Jim Haley.
Friends and family may come to honor his life from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 7, 2025 starting at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Oakland Cemetery. Family requests casual attire.
Memorial contributions may be given in Terry's memory to the Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Ave West, Mansfield, Ohio 44906 and the American Legion Post #326 Riders Chapter, 89 E. Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
