Terry Snyder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fort Plain Funeral Home on Feb. 20, 2026.
Terry L. Snyder | 1945 – 2026

FORT PLAIN, NY – Mr. Terry L. Snyder, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on February 17, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Born on February 7, 1945, in Utica, NY, Terry was the son of Harland B. Snyder and Evelyn Wick Snyder. A proud graduate of the Fort Plain High School Class of 1963, Terry's roots in the community ran deep. On July 15, 1972, he married the love of his life, Jacquelyn S. Cronk. Together, they built a life defined by adventure and an unwavering commitment to one another.

Terry was a fixture in the regional propane industry for 44 years. Most notably, he was the founder of Snyder Propane, overseeing its operations from 1994 until his retirement in 2007. Even in semi-retirement, he remained active, serving as the NBT Bank Courier Coordinator in Canajoharie for 12 years.

Beyond his career, Terry believed in giving back to the town he called home. He served his community faithfully as a member of the Fort Plain Cemetery Board and the Town of Minden Zoning Board.

An avid golfer for most of his adult life, Terry achieved what many only dream of: recording two holes-in-one-the first on the 9th hole at Otsego Golf Course and the second on the 5th hole at the Canajoharie Country Club. When he wasn't on the greens, Terry found great joy in the simple camaraderie of "playing cards with the guys" every Monday. Terry also cherished family vacations, cruises, camping with family and friends and sitting riverside watching the boats go by.

Ever dedicated and involved as a father, Terry had immense pride for his children and grandchildren, evidenced by the beaming joy with which he shared stories of their accomplishments. He will be remembered by many for his kind heart, his loyal friendship, his quick wit, his smile, and the best hugs.

Terry is predeceased by his parents Harland and Evelyn Snyder.

His legacy of kindness and strength lives on through his family; wife of 53 years Jacquelyn Snyder of Fort Plain, NY; daughter Kelly (Thomas) Rybak of Kernersville, NC; sons Geoff Snyder of Scotia, NY and Brad (Beth) Snyder of Delmar, NY; sister Kathy Snyder Hoffman of Belleview, FL; grandchildren Aiden, Abigayle, Emily, Alaina and Josie; several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins, and lastly his precious dog, Bella.

A public funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 10am at the Fort Plain Reformed Church, Canal Street, Fort Plain. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12pm at the Route 80 Bowl in Van Hornesville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Terry's name to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078 or to a charity of one's choice.
