Terry Dee Taylor

Terry Dee Taylor was born in Anniston, Missouri on October 2, 1928, to William Taylor and Lola Pearl Taylor (nee Weston). He passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Washington, Missouri at the age of 97.
Terry graduated from East St. Louis High School in Illinois in 1946. Following high school, Terry began working for Union Electric (now Ameren) as an operating engineer. He worked for Ameren for 40 years serving in several power plants as a lead operator, union steward, and before retiring, a Load Dispatcher in the central office. Additionally after high school Terry also enlisted in the National Guard where he proudly served his country and was honorably discharged. In his spare time, Terry was an avid woodworker and proud member of the American Legion Post 218 in Washington, He will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his generosity and sense of humor.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Pearl Taylor; father, William Taylor; first wife, Mary Ann Taylor; brother, Fred Taylor; stepson, Paul Gerner; grandfather, Charles Frederick Weston; and grandmother, India Ann Weston.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Taylor; son, Dave and his wife Phyllis Taylor of Nashville, TN; daughter, Debbie and her husband Berney Esser of Mount Vernon, IL; five grandchildren, Lori and her husband Josh Willeford; Rachel and her husband Michael Morton; Amanda Taylor; Joshua and his wife Hillary Esser; Jason and his wife Jori Esser; seven great-grandchildren, Weston Willeford, Taylor Willeford, Lincoln Willeford, Madeline Esser, Lillian Esser, Blair Esser, Benjamin Esser; step-son, John and his wife Heather Gerner; three step-grandchildren Adam and his wife April Gerner, Michael Gerner, Jacqueline Gerner; three step-great-grandchildren, Noah Gerner, Marren Gerner, Kira Gerner; along with many other cherished family members and friends.
Visitation for 97-year-old Terry Taylor will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Oltmann Funeral Home in Washington, Missouri. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with interment immediately following at St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Washington. A luncheon at the American Legion Post 218 will immediately follow interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pregnancy Assistance Center.
