Thatis Anthony “Skipper” Walker, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and man of faith, peacefully departed this life on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Greensburg, Louisiana, Thatis was the eldest of six children born to the late Albert Cyprian and Viola Walker Cyprian. He was lovingly raised by his maternal grandparents, Leon “Big Daddy” and Marie Terrell Brown, who instilled in him the values of faith, hard work, and integrity.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 46 years, Cathy B. Walker; two loving sons, Morris A. Walker (Latreva) and Tremaine K. Walker (Akiko); four beloved grandchildren, Tyler V. Walker, Morris T. Walker, Harvey Walker, and Harley Walker; two sisters, Regina Cyprian and Talwanzie C. Oriakhi (Wilson); two brothers, Willie Cyprian and Delwayne Cyprian (Keisha); three godchildren, LaTausha B. Duncan, Taurus Matthews, and Eric Johnson, Jr.; Sisters-in-law: Sadie B. Farris, Brendia Brown, and Thelma B. Johnson; brother-in-law: Joseph Brown, Jr. (Shirley); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Thatis was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Viola Cyprian; his grandparents, John Henry Walker, Marie Terrell Brown, and Leon Brown; and his brother, Terry Cyprian, Sr.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Oasis Christian Church, 4524 E. Brookstown Dr., Baton Rouge, La 70805 at 9 am until the religious service at 11 am. Bishop Charles E. Wallace will be officiating the service. Interment will be in the Louisiana National Cemetery.
