William (Bill) Richard LaRue, 93, passed away on September 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by his wife and family. Bill was born on November 13, 1931, in Salem, IL, where he spent his youth.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon Diane LaRue, children, Brenda LaRue Stewart of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Julie LaRue Istre of Walker, Louisiana, Jeff LaRue of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carole LaRue Piper (Tony) of Eastman, Georgia, granddaughter/daughter, Joelle Smith (Lathan) of Loranger, Louisiana. He is also survived by his sister, Carole LaRue Ritter of Salem, Illinois, and brother Terry LaRue, also of Salem, Illinois, and 15 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur LaRue and Iola Bryant LaRue, as well as Daughter, Pamela LaRue Roy of Antioch, Tennessee, and Son Stephen LaRue of Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Bill served the Lord Jesus faithfully for over 70 years. He found great joy in being surrounded by his family members and friends. Always quick with a witty comment, he was the source of much laughter during family gatherings. His evenings were filled with games, whether it was Rummikub or Rook, and ended with listening to the Gaither Vocal Band. His generous spirit, caring ways, and strong character served as an inspiration to all who met him. His greatest desire was that all would come to know Christ. You can rest assured that if he ever met you, you were prayed for from that day forward. Bill was an extraordinary husband, father, grandpa, friend, and the best example of a Godly Christian man.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at First Pentecostal Church of Denham Springs on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 6 p.m., with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Louisiana National Cemetery.
