Mark Patrick Smith

Mark Patrick Smith, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on December 8, 2025. Born in Natchez, Mississippi, on January 19, 1961, Mark lived a life centered around family, hard work, and his deep love for the outdoors.

A proud graduate of Woodlawn High School's Class of 1979, Mark played football throughout his high school years and carried the same determination, loyalty, and drive into his adult life.

An avid outdoorsman, Mark loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He especially loved fishing on Lake St. John, where he spent much of at his childhood with his grandparents, and made memories that stayed with him throughout his life. His passion for hunting took him across the United States, where he found peace in nature and joy in the adventure. At home, Mark could often be found tending his garden or in the kitchen-where he was known to be an exceptionally good cook. Above all, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his grandchildren, whose laughter and presence meant everything to him.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia and Jerry Smith; and his grandparents, Verta Mae and Buren Smith.

He is survived by his children, Garrett Smith (LeAnn) and Aundria Smith (Joseph); his stepson, Michael Martin (Trisha); his grandchildren, Carson Bunch, Dallas Bunch, Levi Smith, Olivia Smith, and Elijah Bunch; his aunt, Sheila Bryson (Ralph); his sisters, Vicki O'Bannon and Eve Serbert; nephews; and many life long friends.

Mark's warmth, humor, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home 7738 Florida Blvd. Denham Springs, LA 70726, on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow in the Magnolia Room at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home.
