Thayne Oviatt, born on February 10, 1962, in Price, Utah, to Clinton and Dawna Oviatt, left this world on May 6, 2025, at 63, surrounded by the family he loved fiercely.

On June 5, 1992, he married the love of his life, ReNae Sandoval, and together they built a life full of love, chaos, and laughter.

He was a rock for his kids—Amber Livingston (Jeff), Christina Oviatt, Julia Ericson (Jonathan), Kimberly Frost (Matt), and Clinton Oviatt (Stevie). As a grandpa, he was a legend, spinning tall tales and cracking jokes.

Thayne’s soul was tied to the outdoors, he loved to fly RC planes, hunt, fish and garden. He built a wide circle of many friends through every chapter of his life, some of whom he’d known since childhood. Thayne is survived by his loving wife, children, three grandchildren, his sister Ruth Eskelsen and nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jay Oviatt.

Thayne was a husband, a brother, a father, a grandpa, and a one-of-a-kind character who didn’t just live—he burned bright. Thayne leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and stories that’ll be told for years. He’ll be missed, but his spirit’s too big to ever fade. Thanks for the hard work, Pops.

In lieu of flowers, crack open a cold one and tell a story that’d make him laugh.

Funeral service, Saturday, May 24, 2025, 11:00 am, Wellington Stake Center (935 E Main St, Wellington, Utah).
