Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home - McArthurThelbert Odell Crutcher, 67, of McArthur, Ohio, passed away on August 19, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 23, 1957, in Oklahoma.
A skilled mechanic, Thelbert could always be found under the hood of a vehicle or tractor or lending a hand to anyone in need. Know for his hardworking spirit and his ever-present cowboy hat, he lived life with grit, humor, and heart.
Thelbert worked many years with Irby Construction all over the United States and Canton Farm Equipment in Canton, Mississippi. In his final years or work, he was a self-employed mechanic, owning and operating Crutcher’s Repair Service in Carthage, Mississippi. In his business, he found great success and met many wonderful people.
When he wasn’t working, Thelbert enjoyed the simple things that brought him joy – his dogs, who were never far from his side, and time shared with his family and friends.
Thelbert is survived by his significant other, Lisa Page; son, Shawn (Jenna) Crutcher; daughter, Kasey (Paul) Edwards; step son, Cole Madison; grandchildren, Michael (Megan) Crutcher, Taylor Crutcher, Amerine Edwards, Millee Edwards, Denver Bonner, and Aubrey Bonner; great grandchildren, Sutton Crutcher and Kole Kelly; brothers, Terrance (Sharon) Crutcher and Jeff (Janice) Crutcher; and cousins, Shawna (Tony) Diehl and Chad (Amber) Amerine.
Thelbert was preceded in death by his parents, Collis Timothy Crutcher and Vyonne Margine Amerine. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and will be missed immensely.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Garrett Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St, McArthur. Family and friends may visit from 9 to 11 am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.
Thelbert will be remembered not only for being a skilled mechanic, but also for the love and help he gave so freely. His cowboy hat, his dogs, and the countless stories of his generosity and grit will remain treasured memories.
